CPR Information:Nearly 383,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur annually and 88% of these cardiac arrests occur at home. This is more than 1000 cardiac arrests per day, including approximately 26 children. The survival rate is less than 10% and only 5% in children because people witnessing the event do not preform CPR. Survival rates decrease by 7-10% for each minute without CPR. Remembering that 88% of cardiac arrests happen at home, chances are good that the life you potentially save could be your loved one. Morgan Township Fire Department is very proud to offer you an American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) combined CPR and AED class. This class is designed for anyone 14 years and older who do not work in the healthcare field but are occupationally required to, or desire to have CPR knowledge and skills like parents, teachers, babysitters, emergency response teams in business and industry, school bus drivers and adult and child care workers. Attending a single 4 hour class, passing a written test and performing required CPR skills competently and without assistance will earn you a 2 year ASHI certification.
